Europe is made for cycle touring, with landscapes, terrain and cultures that shift from one region to the next. Our Europe bike tours ride along great rivers like the Loire, the Danube and the Rhine, cross the bright countryside of Portugal and Spain, hop between the Greek islands, and take on the legendary passes of the Alps and Pyrenees for those after a challenge.
Cycling is also a way into local history and food: castles and medieval villages, port towns and vineyards, with regional wines, cheeses and fresh seafood along the way. Depending on the destination, you can travel self-guided or in a bike-and-boat format, from flat, easygoing routes to more demanding rides with real climbing. Excellent infrastructure, manageable distances and endless variety make Europe hard to beat for a cycling trip.

Europe is hard to beat for cycle touring. Thousands of kilometers of signed bike paths, a EuroVelo network linking one country to the next, and accommodations designed for cyclists: everything is in place to make your trip smooth and enjoyable.
Distances between points of interest are often short, so you can take in plenty without rushing. You ride through a medieval village in the morning, have lunch in a trattoria at noon, and roll past a vineyard in the afternoon. Cycling gives you a freedom of movement that neither a car nor a train can match.
And then there’s the variety. Dutch plains one day, alpine passes the next. Mediterranean coasts in May, Scandinavian forest roads in July. Whatever kind of landscape draws you, Europe has a cycling route to match.
There’s no minimum level required to take a cycling trip in Europe with Ekilib. Every tour comes with a clear difficulty rating, and the routes are designed to suit different kinds of cyclists.
Easy routes (30 to 50 km per day, flat or gently rolling) are ideal if you ride a few times a year for pleasure. Moderate routes (50 to 70 km per day) suit those who ride regularly. Challenging routes (70 to 100 km per day, with climbing) are meant for keen cyclists who see riding as a way of life.
On self-guided trips, you shape each day around how you feel: shortening a route, taking a rest day, or swinging by a village that catches your eye. Our team stays reachable throughout to adjust things as needed. The route bends to how you’re feeling that day, never the other way around.
Cycling in Europe is mainly enjoyed from April to October, with variations depending on the region.
Spring (April–May): mild temperatures, blooming landscapes and still-quiet roads. This is the ideal season for the Netherlands (the tulips in April are worth the trip on their own), France (Loire, Provence) and Portugal.
Summer (June–August): high season, perfect for northern destinations (Scandinavia, Scotland, Ireland) and Bike & Boat trips on the Danube or the Rhine. Southern Europe can be hot in July and August; the islands (Croatia, Greece) offer the sea breeze as compensation.
Autumn (September–October): golden light, vineyards during harvest, mild temperatures and dispersed crowds. This is a preferred period for Italy, Croatia, southern France and Spain. Those in the know often favour this season.
The south of the continent (Spain, Portugal, Greece, southern Italy) can be cycled comfortably from March through November, which considerably extends the travel window.
The world doesn’t stop at Europe’s borders. Ekilib also designs bike tours in North America, each destination chosen for the quality of its roads, the beauty of its landscapes and the sheer pleasure of riding there.
