Cycling tours and trips in Italy
Italy by bike, with Ekilib, is a mosaic of landscapes and cultures, with itineraries that truly let you feel the country beneath your wheels. On one side are bright, salt-scented coastlines, lagoons and deltas where you ride at water level between dikes, canals and small harbours. On the other are mountain ranges made for road cycling, with long legendary climbs and Alpine valleys where the scenery changes with every bend. And between the two lies rural, food-loving Italy, made up of villages, lively piazzas and quiet roads winding through olive groves, vineyards and rows of cypress trees.
Around Venice, the Adriatic coast and the Po Plain offer an accessible and fluid rhythm: crossing the delta, wetlands, fishing villages and stages leading to Ravenna and its mosaics, then Faenza and its workshops, before reaching Tuscany and arriving in Florence through the foothills of the Apennines. The bike & boat format offers another way to experience northern Italy, travelling from Mantua toward the lagoon: comfortable navigation, bike paths and quiet roads along the Po and the Bianco Canal, cultural stops in Ferrara, Chioggia and Murano, and an arrival in Venice that is best enjoyed without rushing.
Farther south, Italy is told through pale stone and exceptional cuisine. In Puglia, you ride between the Ionian and Adriatic Seas, from Gallipoli to the villages of Salento and the Baroque façades of Lecce, with possible detours to Otranto, the Grotta della Poesia, the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve and Grecìa Salentina, where the Griko language is still encountered. In Sicily, the Val di Noto showcases UNESCO-listed Baroque heritage through Caltagirone, Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Scicli, Noto and Syracuse, with stages that also pass Villa Romana del Casale, Marzamemi and the Vendicari Nature Reserve before reaching the atmosphere of Ortigia.
In the Dolomites, cycling takes on an Alpine and sport-oriented dimension. Starting from Bolzano, the roads climb toward some of Europe’s most emblematic passes, such as the Stelvio, the Gavia, the Tonale, the Pordoi and the Sella. Switchbacks follow one another between alpine pastures, pale cliffs and sharp peaks, in scenery ranked among the most spectacular in the Alps. Each stage alternates major climbs, panoramic descents and green valleys, with the logistical support needed to ride light and fully enjoy this legendary cycling terrain.
And for those who love this more vertical Italy, Sardinia is not to be outdone: long rolling stages, the Supramonte, Oliena, Orgosolo and its murals, spectacular descents toward Cala Gonone, the Costa Verde and mining heritage around Nebida, Pan di Zucchero, Carloforte and Sant’Antioco, then the Costa del Sud to Nora. Finally, in the north, the Dolomites and Trentino-Alto Adige take on the feel of great cycling, with passes that have entered legend (Stelvio, Gavia, Tonale, Giau, Falzarego, Pordoi, Sella) and stages designed to link panoramas as much as climbs.
