Discover Holland on 100% bike paths (or almost)

The itinerary takes you through the Randstad, the most urbanized area of the Netherlands. You will discover here, the most beautiful corners of Holland: unique cities that have retained their cachet of yesteryear. But cycling here does not just mean admiring typical Dutch cities. In this region you will find an oasis of serenity, vast calm landscapes, polders and their characteristic mills, splendid lakes and rivers, fields of flowers and these are just some of the pearls in this shell. In short, this trip promises to enjoy the cultural jewels and idyllic Dutch countryside while always on Europe's most elaborate bicycle path network. This trip is created exclusively to combine the best of Holland with bicycle routes accessible to any cyclist. Amsterdam, Noordwijkerhout, Leiden, Delft and Gouda will be our stopover cities staying at least two nights in each of them. Every day a short option between 25 and 50 km will be offered to satisfy the contemplative and active cyclists while the optional 80 to 90 km long option will allow the sportsmen to reach their daily objectives. You will have time to visit the cities and museums after each ride or during the next day loop.

July the 8th, 2018 | Montreal - Amsterdam

Meet your Ekilib guide at Montreal airport. Night flight to Amsterdam with Air Transat ( with a transfer in Toronto).

9th, 10th and 11th of July 2018 | Amsterdam

Arrival in Amsterdam followed by a transfer to your hotel. Once installed, you have three full days to visit the many tourist attractions of the capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam. The latter is also called by some, the smallest metropolis in Europe. You will find many unique museums and canals in the heart of the city, recently added to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. These are certainly a highlight of your visit to Amsterdam. Your guide will make suggestions for visits.  You will certainly be eager to discover the city and around by bike so loops will be offered from the hotel on the day of the 10th and the 11th  and always with a short and a long option.

July the 12th, 2018 | Amsterdam - Noordwijkerhout

You will notice very quickly that the city of Amsterdam does not stop to fascinate you. It is time to leave this effervescent capital to continue our journey to Noordwijkerhout. You will find yourself quickly in a beautiful landscape. The Kennemerland region brings together natural areas, extensive polders, pretty gardens with local vegetation and dense forests. You will spend the night in Noordwijkerhout.

July the 13th, 2018 | Noordwijkerhout - loop

One of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, Haarlem deserves your full attention. The city centre will amaze you with its heritage. If you prefer to discover the fine arts, visit the Frans Hals Museum with its magnificent collection of the Golden Age, including works by painters Frans Hals, Jacob van Ruisdael and Pieter Saenredam from Haarlem.

July the 14th, 2018 | Haarlem - Leiden

After Haarlem, get ready to follow a colorful route through this region of Holland famous for growing flowers. This route is colorful since in spring and summer; tulips, crocus, daffodils and hyacinths color this region of the Netherlands. In the late afternoon you will arrive in Leiden. Leiden is another beautiful historic city, rich in monuments and buildings. Admire the beautiful mansions of the seventeenth century and the characteristic canals. And do not miss the oldest university in the Netherlands, the historic botanical garden and the Gothic Church of St Peter’s (Pieterskerk).

July the 15th, 2018 | Leiden - loop

Enjoy a visit to Wassenaar and Katwijk along the coast. Katwijk is a municipality and Wassenaar is the official residence of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, his wife, Queen Máxima and their daughters who live in the villa Eikenhorst. Wassenaar is an extremely wealthy suburb of The Hague, it is the second most prosperous municipality in the Netherlands.

July the 16th, 2018 | Leiden - Delft

After the effervescence of Leiden, you will find calm and silence. Today, you cross a typical Dutch landscape of winding roads, expanses of water, historic mills, old farms and green meadows. In the afternoon, the city of Delft is on the program. Like Leiden, the city of Delft has a unique historic city centre. Here you will find beautiful buildings and many picturesque canals. The reputation of the city of Delft is due to its production of blue and white pottery, (Delfts Blauw). Do not forget to visit the New Church (Nieuwe Kerk), where the vault of the royal family is located.

July the 17th, 2018 | Delft - loop

Cycle from Delft to The Hague and discover The Hague by bike. The Hague is the seat of the Netherlands cabinet, a beautiful city with its Binnenhof, Peace Palace, and museums like Mauritshuis, the Museum of Optical Illusions Escher, Gemeente Museum, Panorama Mesdag and Outdoor Madurodam (Holland miniature). The itinerary we suggest takes you through a series of parks across and around the city.

July the 18th, 2018 | Delft - Gouda

Today, we offer you a new and equally interesting journey. The route takes you through the 'Green Heart of Holland' (Groene Hart) characterized by ancient Dutch towns and villages, vast meadows and polders, typical Dutch dykes, fields and many streams! Today, you will spend the night in Gouda, the city of cheese, a hugely welcoming Dutch town with an authentic city centre. The city of Gouda is famous for it’s fairy town hall, the windows of it’s church and its picturesque canals.

July the 19th, 2018 | Gouda - loop

Today's road is a beautiful magnifying glass through the backgarden of Gouda. Via Haastrecht, you will ride along the small peaty river; the Vlist towards Schoonhoven. The Silvertown of Holland. Allow time for a walk through this beautiful city. On the way back, you will again see typical Dutch landscapes with cows, windmills and cheese factories.

July the 20th, 2018 | Gouda - Woerden

Today the route will take you along the Vlist River to the historic town of Oudewater, famous for its historic Heksenwaag. The 16th century Witches Weighhouse is now a museum. This city is a great place to stop for lunch and admire the beautiful historic buildings. Oudewater is also known for its many storks so keep your eyes peeled for these beautiful birds. You will end your day in the historic town of Woerden. Woerden is known for its cheese market on Saturday morning (April-August). Stroll through the old walls of the fortress and enjoy the canals and sample the local products.

July the 21st, 2018 | Woerden - loop

From Woerden enjoy a ride to the Nieuwkoopse Plassen, a large heathland area with many small canals and a variety of vegetation similar to open water and swampy forests.

July the 22nd, 2018 | Woerden - Utrecht

The road from Woerden to Utrecht will take you through a pleasant rural landscape between meadows and pastures. At the end of the day, you will arrive in Utrecht. A city built around the Dom Toren tower, the landmark par excellence and the reason why it is almost impossible to get lost in Utrecht. The city has very beautiful canals with waterfront construction cellars where are now renovated as bars and terraces for the enjoyment of locals and tourists. With a small medieval town center, you'll have plenty of time to explore on foot after your ride.

July the 23rd, 2018 | End of the stay and the return flight to Montreal

After breakfast, we will take the transfer to the airport and return to Montreal.
